The Clinton Peer AIDS Education CoalitionConvened Midtown Manhattan social service providers: Sanctuary for Families, Women In Need & StreetWorks to address street outreach for HIV prevention, focusing on sex workers, battered women, and street youth. This consortium founded the Clinton Peer AIDS Education Coalition (CPEAC) and was overseen and administered out of St. Clement’s Church with the collaboration of Edith Springer, the “goddess of harm reduction.” It grew successfully and eventually evolved into the city wide agency of New York Peer AIDS Education Coalition, (NYPAEC) serving over 20,000 “at risk” clients annually. |
Clinton Community ServicesFounded NFP dedicated to serving the needs of the homeless population of the Times Square/ Hell’s Kitchen neighborhoods. Oversaw creation of first tenants association at the Holland Hotel on 42nd street (welfare hotel model of ‘80’s) and with help of Manhattan Borough President’s office. |

‘Make an event come alive!’ IgniVox Community Arts Development videoProduce Community Arts events and programs serving multiethnic & intergenerational communities in Section 8 housing complexes in the Lower East Side & East Village Manhattan, and the South Bronx. IgniVox offers a sixteen event season in four sites, initiating this program for the Association of NY Catholic Homes and sustaining it over a seven year period. |
Dominican Solstice FestivalDominican Roots Music Celebration is produced by IgniVox Productions in collaboration with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, New York Department of Cultural Affairs, Northern Manhattan Art Alliance, Make Music New York and Partnership for Parks Inwood Hill through Columbia University. Dominican Roots Music Celebration is a continuation of IgniVox/Irka Mateo’s “Offerings and Songs to the Solstice Sun“ which took place last year at Fort Tryon Park. Blessed Night Out, Interfaith Assembly of Housing & HomelessnessProduced Overnight vigil for Housing Justice & Convocation for the Interfaith Assembly on Homelessness and Housing at St. Paul’s Chapel & City Hall Park. |
River of Light, Tivoli, NYCreated and produced on going (3 seasons) unique site specific event using elements of fire, music and dance on water, performed on the Tivoli waterfront and the Hudson River for audiences of 300 with a cast of 20 local musicians, dancers, visual artists and fire performers. Received funding from The Dutchess County Arts Council, The Upper Hudson River Alliance, New York State Department of Economic Development, “I Love NY” program and numerous local businesses. The Voices of Light, Bard College ChaplaincyA musical and ceremonial celebration for the International Day of Peace produced by IgniVox at the Bard College chapel, coordinated with the Bard College chaplaincy, peace advocate and co-producer Linda Lauretta, The Wittenberg Center and the Bard College Muslim Student Organization. The Festival of Lights, Bard CollegeProduced and directed four year long tenure of a large scale multimedia pageant on seasonal winter themes involving fifty participants for both College and local community audiences. Worked with Bard College Gamelan, Vocal Ensemble, Mummer’s Play. Created unique puppetry, dance and fire components. |
Children’s Medicine Wheel for Peace, An Earth Walk ProjectCoordinated community building of a Lakota Medicine Wheel on the Historic estate of Rokeby Farm in Barrytown, NY. Together with Grandmother Barbara ThreeCrow, local children (& some strong backed adults) created an ongoing program of earth-based teaching and ceremony in Upstate NY. |

12th Night Feast & Fest @ The House of Yes, Bushwick, NYIgniVox’s annual 12th Night Showcase and dinner to celebrate the great riches of talent and connection we experience doing our work. 12th night is the traditional completion to the Christmas season as in “the twelve days of…” It is also the Feast of the Epiphany, (greek for “to appear or manifest”). In this barren, dark season of mid winter, we invite nourishing, rich food & libation, invigorating talent and awakening communion into our bodies & souls. St. Clement’s Church & Theater, Hell’s Kitchen, NYElevated St. Clement’s status from mission to financially self-supporting parish status within Diocese of New York through community outreach & mission initiatives. Tripled congregation membership and increased parish budget from $50k to $200k. Managed the church’s fully operative off-Broadway theater, increasing season to 48 weeks rental. |
IgniVox Productions, The River of Light, Hudson River ValleyRaised $9.5k over a three year period to produce the River of Light on the Hudson River from The Dutchess County Arts Council, The Upper Hudson River Alliance, NYS Department of Economic Development’s “I Love New York” & “Discover the Hudson” campaign. |
Diocese of New YorkAs chair of the Planning Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, coordinated diocesan strategic planning process which initiated the decentralization of diocesan funding structure into a block grant system. |

Grand Street Guild Apartments, Lower East Side of NYCreated a Property Management/ Needs Assessment report for 600 unit section 8 housing complex for Grand Street Guild in Lower East Side, NYC after completion of $97 million renovation, resulting in creation of outdoor amphitheater. Kathleen’s Barn in Tivoli, NYCreated a unique rustic barn, lovingly renovated with the work of numerous local artisans, surrounded by gardens and green, a private oasis yet just a hop, five minute walk into the Village of Tivoli. It became a growing event venue/guest house/retreat business where I practiced a deep hospitality. |

Bard College ChapelInitiated and oversaw landscape renovation of Chapel grounds, working with art students & staff to conceive and create unique outdoor altar, a biblical garden and processional pavement. |
